Ferrari tour in the landscapes of Tuscany
From Valdarno to the Chianti Hills - 150 km, full day
We depart in the morning from San Giustino Valdarno (or from your hotel in Valdarno). After a briefing on the day's itinerary, we get behind the wheel of our cars and drive through the rolling Chianti hills to reach Greve in Chianti, the capital of the Florentine Chianti; in the lively piazza, framed by porticoes, we stop to taste the specialties of the Antica Macelleria Falorni, Tuscan excellence in the production of typical local charcuterie.
We drive along the legendary Chiantigiana road, immersed in one of the most beautiful and fascinating landscapes in Italy, and after a few kilometers we arrive in Panzano, which offers an amazing panoramic view of the valley from which great wines come. We continue southwards, passing through vineyards, olive groves, castles and medieval villages. We enter the Chianti Senese area and reach Castellina in Chianti, where we stop for lunch at a local trattoria and a short free tour of the village. Don't miss the charming covered walkway, Via delle Volte, which runs through the village and offers spectacular views of the Chianti countryside.
Back in the driver's seat, we pass Radda in Chianti, a typical medieval village, and head for Volpaia, a small fortified village surrounded by vineyards. Stop for a free tour of the historic center, a maze of narrow, winding streets among stone houses and artisan workshops. Its medieval walls, still intact, make it a charming and romantic place. We pick up the cars and make a short detour to the Castello di Meleto, in the heart of Chianti, where we stop for a tour of the castle with its medieval towers and frescoed rooms. The guided tour allows us to explore the Piano Nobile, the ancient cellars and the 18th century theater before finishing with a tasting of 3 wines in the wine shop.
At the end of the tour and the tasting, we continue our route through an area dotted with castles and vineyards. After passing through the medieval village of Gaiole in Chianti, which lies between Chianti and Valdarno, the final stretch of road takes you back to your hotel in about 45 minutes. Arrival in the late afternoon.
