Ferrari tour in the landscapes of Tuscany
Chianti: Machiavelli Tour - 150 km, full day
Depart in the morning from Piazzale Michelangelo or your hotel. After a briefing on the day's stages, we get behind the wheel of our cars and drive through the rolling hills surrounding Florence. We drive along a road that offers beautiful scenery to arrive in Greve in Chianti, where we stop for coffee and a quick tour of the lively piazza framed by porticoes.
Back behind the wheel, we get back on the road and head for Monteriggioni, a beautiful village situated on top of a hill and surrounded by a circle of perfectly preserved circular walls, a truly enchanted and unique place. We stop for a free tour of the village and a tasty lunch at a local restaurant. We resume driving on a road through rolling hills offering splendid views of the surrounding countryside and reach San Gimignano, an ancient medieval fortified town famous for its historical and artistic heritage and architecture, particularly its towers. Free tour of the town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
At the end of our visit, we take the cars back and arrive at Villa Machiavelli, a small 16th-century hamlet where the great Florentine writer lived. Here we visit the Historic Cellars and the House Museum where Niccolò Machiavelli wrote "The Prince”. Then we head to the Fienile area for a tasting of four locally produced wines accompanied by a platter of cured meats, cheeses and bruschetta served by Tuscany's oldest restaurant, the Albergaccio. To give each participant a chance to taste the alcoholic products, we will return to Florence by minibus in the late afternoon.
